 Air Flow Diagnostics Minimize

Airflow Diagnostics can represent one of the most efficient investments you will ever make in home improvements. Many, if not all homes have airflow problems. Do you have some rooms that never heat well in the winter or cool properly in the summer? Chances are it is linked to your systems airflow and not your HVAC unit.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 90 percent of all HVAC duct systems leak air. Did you know that a 20 percent duct leakage alone can decrease your systems energy efficiency by half? That means that you could be paying twice as much as you should be to heat and cool your home.

Do you have higher than normal humidity in your home on humid days? If the ducts in your crawlspace are leaking, you are pumping humid crawlspace air into your home.

Is your upstairs hard to cool during the summer? If the ducts in your attic are leaking, they are pumping 130 degree attic air into your system. No wonder it is hot.

Bradley Mechanical has 2 of the 3 Certified Air Diagnosticians (CADs) located in Richmond metropolitan area. That is pretty amazing in itself when you realize that a system has to be tested and balanced before it can supply you the maximum comfort and efficiency. Just another important reason why you will receive superior workmanship when selecting Bradley Mechanical as your preferred HVAC contractor.

After visually inspecting your system and duct work, we run a series of tests including static pressure (the blood pressure of your system), airflow measurments of your supply and return systems, and temperature analysis (no two rooms in your home should deviate by more than 2 degrees).

Many comfort issues are a direct result of improper duct designs. Duct systems must be sized to match the system installed in your home. In many cases, simple modifications such as the addition of dampers in strategic locations can improve your airflow considerably.

Thinking about building a new home or an addition? Engage one of our CADs to insure a trouble free, efficient and comfortable design.

Professional planning prior to installation can save you thousands of dollars later, not to mention your comfort and indoor air quality!
