Gas Logs

Gas logs

Bradley Mechanical offers vented gas logs as they are the safest selection for your home. While burning clean gas, Carbon Dioxide and Water Vapor is emitted as a by-product which can not only cause moisture and mildew in your home, but it can be harmful when breathing even if the CO level is low. For these reasons, we feel strongly in only offering the fireplace products that will keep your family safe and warm.

Selecting a log set

Before selecting a gas log set because of its price, or because a friend told you they like their set, please consider a few topics that aid you in making an informed decision.

Here at Bradley Mechanical we only sell Peterson brands, simply because they are the best. Not only are they made in America the have a lifetime warranty too. Peterson logs are reinforced with steel rods, which produces an extremely durable log. The rods insure that the logs with continue to burn for many years. Peterson gas logs have the most realistic flame pattern on the market today. They have specially designed their burners, which creates that natural look you want in a log set. Most people will be fooled into thinking that you have a real fire burning, unless you tell them otherwise; trust us we were a victim on the first time we saw the logs.

If you want to feel the warmth from your new gas logs, be sure to understand the difference you will get from a quality set. The cheaper logs put out up to 50,000 BTU’s, while a premium Peterson gas log will put out up to 75,000 BTU’s.

If you are looking to cuddle up with your family by a warm fire on a cold winter night, you should invest in a Peterson log set, which will give you the level of comfort and satisfaction you were looking for.

Measuring For Your Gas Logs

The best way to measure your fire place is to first make sure it is clean and free of debris. Measure the width of the opening (A). Then measure the height of the opening (B), followed by the width at the back of the opening (C). Also measure the height at the back of the opening and lastly the depth at the top of the opening (E). Don’t forget to note the placement of the Damper knob to have a full picture of your fireplace size. Once these measurements are found then you can select the right set of gas logs for your home.

Vented vs Non Vented

Vented logs are the most common types of logs on the market due to their safety, however the downfall is of course the lack of ventilation in the event you do not have a chimney. Vent logs resemble a real fire with realistic wood logs and allow you change up the log location if you choose. Vented gas logs are the only safe gas log because they use the chimney to exhaust what a non vented log spills into the home.

Vent-Free gas logs emit more heat than a vented log and do not require a chimney in order to function, however we feel strongly that the risk of CO poison is not worth the warmth. Also, keep in mind that gas logs that are not vented have less flexibility, given that you can not re-position them.
